VRE's proposed Midday Storage Replacement Facility services 13 trainsets at the end of the line from New York City to Washington, DC in response to congestion arising from sharing existing space within the Ivy City Maintenance Complex with both Amtrak and Maryland Area Regional Commuter (MARC) trains. The project includes trackwork and catenary structures, platforms and retaining walls as well as the facility itself.
